The internet TV coverage of 10MILA 2008 is going to be worth watching. Internet TV offers many new possibilities compared to ordinary TV, and 10MILA is going to take advantage.
Among the plans is to allow the user to choose whether to watch the main broadcast, or to select an alternative camera (a couple of alternatives will be available).
The user can then switch between cameras and the main broadcast throughout the competition. Furthermore, there is an idea that the GPS-tracking could also be available as a separate picture via internet TV.
The latter idea is under discussion, a problem being how this can be carried out without revealing information about the course gaffling and control points which may affect the competition.
To broadcast internet TV to thousands of viewers demands a generous bandwidth, and such a bandwidth has already been purchased; 10MILA has bought into the platform used daily by (for instance) Sweden''''s top-selling newspaper (Aftonbladet) and Swedish Radio.
With this platform as the base for the internet TV broadcast, many thousand viewers will be able to follow the competition throughout the world.
Apart from the option of following the competition live via the internet TV site, reports will also be available there in the build-up to the competition, and highlights afterwards.
10MILA is delighted with this project, and is convinced that it is the right way to go.
In order to cover the costs for a high quality service, access to the internet TV service will be dependent on payment of a small fee. Viewers can use their VISA- or Master-card in a secure way to get access.
As in previous years, on-line results will be published at www.10mila.se, accessible free of charge. The on-line results, together with the internet TV site, a going to make 10MILA very exciting to follow for armchair spectators.
The internet TV site/concept will be launched during February on www.10mila.se.
